Meeting the Soul at Milan

Milan, for me, is a city of discovery. You can find some amazing gardens behind some great houses; I also love finding beautiful galleries and incredible shops, but you have to explore. And the food is amazing. Milan, a metropolis in Italy's northern Lombardy region, is a global capital of fashion and design. Home to the national stock exchange, it’s a financial hub also known for its high-end restaurants and shops.

In Milan, we enjoy tree lined streets, a charming historic downtown, beautiful parks, safe neighborhoods and great schools. These are just the first impressions of what makes the City of Milan the best city for anyone looking for a great community to buy a home, open a business, raise a family and pursue a wonderful small town life experience.

For those who live, work and own businesses in Milan, they most often say that it is the people here that make the experience so special.  In the City of Milan, everyone is your neighbor, and we are proud of our welcoming tradition. There are so many itineraries available around the world but experience this simple and easy to customize itinerary for Milan.

Suggested Itinerary: One Day in Milan Itinerary

In Milan you'll find shops, restaurants, and services. We have affordable housing, and many wonderful community events, including parades, car shows, movies & concerts in the park and an extremely energetic and vital Senior Community Center. Moreover, Milan boasts 200 acres of beautifully maintained parks to wander through and play.

The City of Milan was named the “unsung” jewel of Washtenaw County by the Ann Arbor News. We provide big city services with a hometown atmosphere.

Milan is Italy’s city of the future, a fast-paced metropolis where creativity is big business, looking good is compulsory and after-work drinks are an art form.

A Modern Miracle

Since Leonardo da Vinci broke all the rules in his stunning Last Supper, the indefatigably inventive Milanese seem to have skipped straight from the Renaissance to the 21st-century. Not only is Milan a treasure trove of 20th-century art, but art deco and rationalist architecture abound. Today the city leads the way with the largest post-war re-development in Italy, impressive, sustainable architecture and a futuristic skyline modelled by Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind and César Pelli. And there’s more to come with ambitious plans to mould the city into a hi-tech hub, home to the likes of Google, Microsoft, Alibaba and Apple.

Cultural Legacy

Ruled by the Caesars, Napoleon, the Austro-Hungarians and Mussolini, Milan has an ancient and fascinating cultural history. Mercantile Milan invented the idea of the city-state and the Edict of Milan (AD 313) ended the persecution of Christians. Art collections old and new mark the genius of Old Masters and provoke new conversations about where the world is headed. Prestigious nights at La Scala and an illustrious literary heritage are balanced by a diverse contemporary music and publishing scene. In short, Milan is so much more than the puritanically work-obsessed city it is often portrayed as.
